Thanks you for your comments.

Your messages of goodwill come via the Write a Review page but mostly via personal emails. I also get heaps of mail with requests for help and advice which is keeping me very busy. So I haven't had a chance to update the database for a while, as you can see!

However please do drop me a note on how you're getting on with these tutorials. I shall contact you shortly - I'm working on a new idea that will help promote your great work as a web applications developer.

Hiran, I realize you have received quite a bit of praise for your tutorials. You can add one more to your list. I have been using Dreamweaver since the beginning and Drumbeat for about 3 months before getting UltraDev. I have been mystified by the process of creating a proper login system using UltraDev. It was always very straight forward in Drumbeat. I contacted Macromedia directly about the login issue and they immediately refered me to your site. I think they should pay you a royalty and distribute your tutorial with every release of UltraDev. Just tell me where to send the check.

One of the best tutorials I have ever seen. The graphics and highlighted text makes it impossible to screw up. I think Macromedia should add you to their payroll.

Hi Hiran I just simply wanted to let you know how fantastic your tutorials are. I am completely new to UltraDev and your tutorials have been a real lifesaver. Superb site construction too. I know there is some great stuff out there on the newsgroup as well but I find your tutorials to be very well structured and easy to follow, especially, considering that I've only had UltraDev for a week! I look forward to more in the near future. Please feel free to add my comments to your 'fan mail' page. Thanks Wendy Cooper

Another great demo/tut from Hiran. Two weeks ago I was new to Dreamweaver/UDev/ASP environment. Now, after spending those 2 weeks with the UDev tut (blah) and Hiran's site my confidence is high and I am ready to go. These tuts answer so many questions that new users will be bound to ask themselves. The lessons and techniques covered in Hiran's site can be applied in so many different ways, that it's hard for me to stress how important I think this site is to the UDev newbie. Thanks a ton Hiran, and keep 'em coming. Oh yeah, that's another thing. After the first 2 ro 3 tuts, you should be able to predict the strategy for the next ones then you can come back and check yourself with Hiran's code. It really is a great learning environment.

I've used MS Access, created some basic sites in MM Dreamweaver, and understand a tiny bit of Visual Basic. I'm a self-professed disliker of code, although I am now making more of an effort due to the release of Ultradev. I have managed to work through Hiran's tutorial. Basically, you don't get "greener" than me. With examples that can be deployed straight away on your site, its a good place to start making your sites functions with a lot more elegance. And trust me...my work needs a whole load of elegance. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Hiran and giving the MM community the opportunity to make better websites.

wayneHello: Hiran, its Wayne, your tutorials are brilliant.. and much needed.. I cant say enought of how much your training is worth to me and other developers. I am writing some tutorial based on your brilliant code. I will send them too you when I am done. a quick suggestion. Since this page is getting so popular you might want to switch away form one table tag.. for all the records, that way you "we" avoid having to wait to see all the posts download before they are visable..Here is some code as I am sure you know how to do, but this will let the recods stream down. Again Thanks for the great tutorial, and if there is anything I can do to help, just send the word.. Sincerely wayne lambright

Hi Hiran, First, I would like to say how helpful I found your tutorials and thank you for taking the time to help others with issues such as these. I don't know why Macromedia doesn't publish pieces such as yours in their manuals, but that is another story. (They will. Its early days with UltraDev. Ed) Thanks, Lance May I also say that I have been looking for a tutorial like yours for weeks. Thanks again. You're now forever going to be in my prayers. Also, may I suggest a tutorial someday on how to create a "Tell a Friend Page", whereby a visitor may enter his/her name, the name of a friend they would like to tell about a particular site and the friend's email address. When the visitor submits the info, an email is utomatically sent to the person being referred with his/her name and the name of the friend referring the site. Just an idea. Thanks again lance

You are my hero! I have to tell you that we (Tanya and I) spent about 6 weeks working with Drumbeat to create this web site for a client. We finally gave up and went to UltraDev. In a matter of 2 weeks we have created almost the entire site thanks to helpful people like you. It's really wonderful that the "newbies" to VBScript, Java, ASP, SQL, have places and people they can turn to when they lost. While working on the site, we have run into some minor "tweeking" problems, i.e. how to redirect if values are null, redirecting if the username is being used, how to create a login page properly - your tutorials have been tremendous. So from Tanya and I a big thank you goes to you for taking the time to make these tutorials for everyone! PLEASE, keep them coming, I'm anxiously awaiting the "How to get the New User Registration page to send a Confirmation Email automatically." Thanks again, you're fantastic! And yes you can post this in your "reviews" page and I'm posting it in the UD forum so everyone there will know just how helpful you are! Lynn Sproule

Just made through your login tutorial and you are an excellent tutor. I am sure many people will use this example as a starting point in their Web applications. So, perhaps it is as important to advise novice developers to properly set up the IIS permisions on the database, i.e. deny read, otherwise security is compromised Big Way, isn't it ;) Keep up the good work you're doing. I look forward to learning more from your examples in the very near future. Best regards Janko Petrovski Macedonia

Hi Hiran: At first thanks for your great tutorials. I'm having problems opening your "members.mdb". Is it a Access 2000 DB? In this case would you give us a 97 versión or show us how is it's extructure? If it's not 2000, uhm... I can't undestad, i've download it two times and it doesn't work. Thanks again, and excuse my english if it sounds spanglish 8-).

simple stuff - how about extending the login so you have both hierarchical login and prevent simultaneous logins i.e users can only login onto the system once thereby preventing other logins by the same user

Have found your tutorials very instructive. As a former DB2K user I shied away from the ASP although I would dabble with the JavaScript a bit in the "Scripting Center". Just purchased a couple of books on ASP and will give them a whirl. Looking forward to future installments with your tutorial. As far as UD goes, it has enormous potential and some pretty slick features as is, but could use a little more muscle i.e. extensions out of the box. Sure miss the DB2K Data Form Wizard. Jim

You're site is a great help. I actually went there earlier yesturday, for some reason it takes a couple of tries before it can connect. One question, before I go out and buy myself a VBscript, JavaScript, etc. for dummies book, what does the 'dim' statement do and what does '==' mean? I look forward to the success of your site. It is a great tool. Aras.

Boy, if you could do that (auto email) sometime in the near future it would be wonderful! Thanks for this and please let me know when you'll do the auto email. I have a form I'm using to register people for a seminar and that would be a great touch for it. Again, this is great and I love everyone helping everyone else -- especially someone like me who is not really a "coder." thanks again! charlie
